Last Week’s Highlights:

  • Despite putting up tremendous fights against Palmer and rival Kenai, the Soldotna Stars’ volleyball team’s season ended on Friday afternoon at the NLC tournament in Wasilla.  The Stars had two players named to the All-Conference First-Team, freshman Ituau Tuisaula and senior Drewe Zeek.  Cally Christianson was named to the All-Conference Second-Team.  Abi Tuttle received the Good Sportsmanship award for SOHI.
  • The Soldotna swim program enjoyed strong performances from both its girls and boys teams at the state meet in Juneau this past weekend.  The boys finished fourth overall, missing a podium spot by just one point.  The girls finished ninth overall.  Top individual performers on the boys side included Cody Watkins (2nd in the 50 free and 3rd in the 100 butterfly), Jacob Hall (2nd in the 500 free), Jacob Creglow (3rd in the 100 breast stroke), and the 200 medley relay team (finished 2nd overall).  On the girls’ side, top performers included Sydney Juliussen (5th in the 100 free) and the 200 medley relay team (finished 4th overall).  The girls were also awarded the Good Sportsmanship award.
  • The SOHI wrestling team finished 6th at the Colony Invite this weekend.  Top performances from the Stars included Logan Craig (4th in the 98 pound division), Gideon Hutchison (1st in the 113 pound division), Brayde Wolfe (2nd in the 126 pound division), Bechler Metcalf (2nd in the 152 pound division), and Abraham Van Hout (3rd in the 170 pound division).  In the consolation bracket, SOHI received individual championships from Joe Van Hout (132 pounds), Hudson Metcalf (152 pounds), and Joey Street (160 pounds).
  • The Soldotna Stars’ hockey team won the annual Peninsula Ice Challenge at the Soldotna Sports Center.  SOHI swept the competition, earning wins against Houston (3-0 on Thursday), Homer (4-3 on Friday) and Kenai (5-2 on Saturday).  SOHI’s game against Homer was particularly thrilling, as a goal from freshman Galen Brantley broke the 3-3 tie with 5 seconds remaining in the game.  This came immediately following a penalty shot from Homer that was turned away on an incredible save from junior Billy Yoder.  Soldotna starts their season with a perfect 3-0 record.

There are two ways to order a transcript.  Each way serves a different purpose.

If you need a transcript sent to a college or NCAA or a similar agency, then you will need to log on to: www.parchment.com   to order transcripts to be sent.  The request is then forwarded to SoHi.  After processing,   it then goes through cyberspace… rather than the US mail… to get to its destination, which is much faster!  ALL transcripts that are headed for NCAA, colleges, etc. have to be processed this way!

FINAL TRANSCRIPTS!    A final transcript is one that shows your second semester grades…  If you order your transcript when we are IN second semester,,, you will need to make sure you choose “next grading period” when you go on to Parchment…  that way your transcript request will wait until the grades are in at the end of the year before it is sent.

~~~
If you need a transcript for scholarships, scholarship folders, insurance, etc., then, you will need to see Mrs. Treider in the Counseling Office.
Parents
Volunteers are also needed to help with the December Staff Appreciation luncheons at SoHi on December 7th and at SoPrep on December 15th.  Please email Sheilah-Margaret Pothast at agr8fulmom@hotmail.com with “PTSA” in the subject line if you can assist Beth with either of these events.
The next meeting of the SoHi PTSA will be Thursday, November 10th at 5:30pm in the SoHi Staff Lounge.  New members are always welcome!  Please join us!
